Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) and Khaitan & Co advised on Meta and Reliance Industries’ strategic partnership for development of hyperscale data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The transaction represents a landmark India–US cross-border collaboration for the development of next-generation digital infrastructure within a proposed Special Economic Zone in Jamnagar.

The project envisages the development of data centre buildings with a combined critical load power capacity of 168 MW, making it one of the largest data centre developments in India.

Under the partnership, Reliance Industries will develop a built-to-suit hyperscale data centre facility that Meta will lease to support its artificial intelligence and computing requirements. Reliance Industries will also provide end-to-end services for the facility, including design, construction, utility management, renewable power supply, network connectivity and managed services.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co advised Meta Platforms Inc. On all legal aspects and documentation pertaining to the establishment of its first hyperscale data centre facility in India.
