Khaitan & Co and Trilegal advised on Aditya Birla Renewables’ USD 1.8 billion acquisition of Sprng Energy.
Aditya Birla Renewables Limited has agreed to acquire Sprng Energy from Shell Overseas Investments B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell plc, in a transaction valued at USD 1.8 billion.
The acquisition is among the largest mergers and acquisitions in India’s renewable energy sector and will add approximately 5 GW of renewable energy capacity to Aditya Birla Renewables’ portfolio.
Sprng Energy is one of India’s leading renewable energy platforms, with a diversified portfolio of contracted solar and wind assets across multiple states. The transaction marks a significant expansion of Aditya Birla Renewables’ renewable energy business while enabling Shell’s exit from its India renewable energy platform.
