MinterEllison has appointed Katrina Groshinski as Chair of the Firm, effective December 31, 2025. She succeeds Andrew Rentoul, who held the role since 2022.
A highly respected Competition Partner, Katrina brings more than two decades of experience advising on complex competition and regulatory matters. Since joining MinterEllison in 2010, she has guided clients through some of the most consequential regulatory challenges facing Australian and International business – from contested merger clearances and ACCC investigations to market authorisations and compliance with evolving consumer protection frameworks.
Her practice spans private and government clients across highly regulated sectors central to Australia’s economy. Katrina is recognised for her ability to navigate the intersection of commercial strategy and regulatory risk, helping clients achieve their objectives while maintaining the confidence of regulators.
Outgoing Chair Andrew Rentoul said: “It has been a privilege to serve as Chair and to work alongside such talented colleagues and clients. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, including strengthening our governance through the appointment of two independent Non-Executive Directors to our Board in 2025. Katrina is an ambitious and visionary leader whose deep industry knowledge and commitment to excellence will ensure MinterEllison continues to thrive at the forefront of the Australian legal and consulting market.”
Katrina will continue her client practice alongside her responsibilities as Chair.
Katrina commented: “I want to thank Andrew for his leadership and the significant progress achieved under his tenure. As Chair, my focus will be on accelerating our strategy and helping our clients solve their most complex problems. Working with our Board, CEO and Managing Partner Virginia Briggs, and our wider leadership team, I am committed to deepening client relationships, driving AI adoption and innovation, and strengthening our capabilities in high-growth areas. We will pursue these priorities with the rigour and integrity that define our profession – because the trust our clients and the community place in us is earned every day.”
