Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP announced the addition of Prashanth Murali, a highly regarded equity investment and corporate finance attorney who recently served as senior counsel for the International Finance Corporation, to its team. Murali joins Hunton as a Counsel and will be based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Drawing on his background advising development finance institutions (DFIs) in direct equity investments and complex cross-border transactions, Murali’s practice includes structuring and negotiating equity, mezzanine, venture capital, project finance, and debt transactions in emerging markets.
“Demand for capital intensive projects in emerging markets across the world, spanning the energy, minerals, infrastructure and technology sectors remains strong,” said Jamie Head, leader of Hunton’s agency finance practice. “Prashanth brings nearly 16 years of experience advising DFIs on complex equity investments and investment funds, making him an ideal addition to our agency finance team. We are thrilled to welcome him to the firm.”
At the IFC, Murali served as senior counsel and global legal lead for IFC’s Asset Management Company (AMC), where he advised on a range of direct equity and funds investments as well as AMC fund formations.
Prior to his work at IFC, Murali practiced at leading international law firms in New York and London, representing DFIs, fund managers, and corporate clients in equity, project, and corporate finance transactions. He is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching International Business Transactions.
Murali earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, summa cum laude, and his law degree from New York University School of Law.
