Addleshaw Goddard Adds Shyamal Jeewoolall As A Partner In Dubai

Addleshaw Goddard has hired Shyamal Jeewoolall as a Partner in Dubai. He will be heading the Aviation, Asset & Finance practice in UAE.

As a leading specialist in aviation finance and asset-backed structured finance, he advises a wide range of aviation industry participants, including airlines, lessors, international and regional banks, export credit agencies and alternative capital providers on complex, cross-border transactions. His practice covers the lifecycle of aviation assets, from purchase and financing through to leasing, maintenance, restructuring and repossession. Clients rely on him both the technical depth of his financing expertise and his hands-on approach.

Shyamal’s experience covers a wide range of financing structures, including pre-delivery financings, export credit-supported transactions, commercial lending, tax-based (including JOLCOs and French tax leases) as well as Sharia-compliant financings. He is also regularly instructed on sale and leaseback transactions, operating leases and portfolio acquisitions and disposals.

In distressed scenarios, Shyamal advises on enforcement strategies, repossessions and restructurings, often in multi-jurisdictional contexts involving challenging legal and regulatory frameworks. Over the past two decades, Shyamal has successfully repossessed airframe and/or engines in Egypt, India, Indonesia, Italy and Jordan.

His practice is particularly noted for its strength in the Middle East, where he combines international financing expertise with deep regional knowledge.

Shyamal is dual-qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales and as an Advocate admitted to the Paris Court of Appeal, giving clients the benefit of seamless cross-border legal coverage across common law and civil law jurisdictions.
