Malaysian law firm Adnan Sundra & Low (ASL) announced that Syuhaini Safwan has joined the firm as a Partner. Her primary practice area with the Firm is in Technology and Data Protection and she will be working closely with the Head of Intellectual Property, Media, Sports & Gaming and Data Protection Sri Sarguna Raj.
Syuhaini brings more than 16 years of legal, regulatory compliance and data protection expertise, with a practice built at the intersection of civil litigation, financial & payment services, fintech, education, and Islamic finance sectors.
Most recently, she served as Associate Director (Legal) & Data Protection Officer at Touch ‘n Go, where she led legal and data protection strategy for one of Malaysia’s largest fintech platforms, advising on regulatory compliance under Bank Negara Malaysia’s frameworks and embedding data protection governance across the business. Her earlier roles saw her drive regulatory work at Fave, including supporting a Monetary Authority of Singapore payment services licence application, and hold senior legal and compliance positions at Genting, INTI, and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, experience that gives her a rare fluency across regulated industries, from digital payments to education to development finance.
Called to the Malaysian Bar in 2009, Syuhaini is a PECB Certified GDPR Provisional Data Protection Officer and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) with the IAPP.
