A&O Shearman, MinterEllison and De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek advised on Danantara’s US$2.5 billion investment in JBS Australia.
PT Danantara Investment Management (Danantara), the investment arm of Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, is investing US$2.5 billion in JBS’s Australian and New Zealand protein and food business.
Danantara will invest US$800 million for an initial 9.64% stake, with a commitment to invest a further US$1.7 billion to reach a 25% stake over three years. The strategic partnership will support the expansion of JBS’s operations across Southeast Asia, regional supply chains and the meat processing and protein sectors in Indonesia. The transaction remains subject to Australian regulatory approvals and customary conditions precedent.
A&O Shearman is advising Danantara on the investment.
The team was led by Partner James Mythen, supported by Senior Associates Mindy Yap and Claire Lye, Partner Daniel Harris, and Senior Associate Calvin Koay, with additional support from a broader multidisciplinary team across the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United States, the UK and other key jurisdictions.
MinterEllison acted as Australian and New Zealand counsel to JBS Group.
