Dechert Advises Stifel On Acquisition Of $1 Bn+ In AUM From Spring Mountain Capital

Dechert LLP recently advised Stifel, a financial services holding company, on an agreement to acquire more than $1 billion in assets under management (AUM) from Spring Mountain Capital, along with key investment professionals who will remain actively involved in managing them. The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to customary conditions.

Spring Mountain Capital is a private investment management firm, founded in 2001 by John L. (“Launny”) Steffens and Gregory P. Ho, that focuses on alternative asset investing and offers investors a wide range of strategies designed to produce attractive risk-adjusted returns. The acquisition is part of Steffens and Ho’s move to Stifel.

The Dechert team advising Stifel was led by corporate partners Ken Young and Stephen R. Pratt as well as associates John Stanley and Ji Hong Park.
