Khaitan, JSA Advised On Matel’s ₹130 Cr Series B Fundraise

Khaitan & Co and JSA advised on Matel Motion and Energy Solutions’ INR 130 crore Series B funding round.

Matel Motion and Energy Solutions Private Limited has raised INR 130 crore in its Series B funding round led by UC Impower, with Catamaran joining as a new investor and Transition VC continuing as an existing investor. Matel is an Indian technology company that designs and manufactures energy-efficient motors, motor controllers and integrated powertrains for automotive and industrial applications, including electric vehicles, pumping and cooling systems.

Khaitan & Co advised Matel Motion and Energy Solutions Private Limited, the company, on the Series B funding round.

The core team comprised Partner Bhavik Narsana, Consultant Shweta Dwivedi, and Associates Pragya Mishra and Sakshi Mehta.

JSA advised UC Impower Fund, the lead investor, on the transaction.

The transaction team was led by Partners Gerald Manoharan and Manuel Jose, with support from Senior Associate Harshita Agarwal and Associate Shobika Veluprakash.

The JSA due diligence team advising UC Impower comprised Partner Manuel Jose; Senior Associates Harshita Agarwal and Prerana Damaraju; and Associates Netra Vasudevan, Shobika Veluprakash and Shreeya Sucharita.

JSA also advised Catamaran Ventures, the new investor, on the transaction, including the term sheet, negotiation of definitive documents and assistance through closing.

The transaction team was led by Partner Probir Roy Chowdhury, with support from Associate Moushami Nayak.
