Phoenix Legal successfully represented Mr. Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic Media Network, before the Karnataka High Court in securing urgent relief against a First Information Report (FIR) registered under Sections 192 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
The FIR, registered by the High Grounds Police Station, Bengaluru, alleged the spread of misinformation involving an image portraying the Istanbul Congress Centre as an overseas office of the Indian National Congress.

Following strong submissions, the Karnataka High Court granted a stay on the investigation, protecting Mr. Goswami from coercive action.
The Karnataka High Court, acknowledging the urgency and constitutional implications, granted interim relief, staying further investigation.
The Phoenix Legal team was led by Founding Partner Saket Shukla, Partner Zoeb Cutlerywala, and Principal Associate Rahul Tyagi.
