Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (SAM) acted as legal counsel to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in connection with a long-term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) worth approximately USD 3 billion entered into with Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (ALNG), a subsidiary of ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) Gas.
The transaction involves HPCL’s purchase of LNG valued at around USD 3 billion over a 10-year period, strengthening India’s long-term energy security and supporting the country’s growing demand for natural gas.
The SAM projects team advising on the transaction was led by Partner Prashant Sirohi, and Senior Associate Rudra Shankar.
