Global, sector‑focused law firm HFW has continued the significant growth of its market‑leading global aviation practice with the hire of Partner Oliver Tebbit in London.
Oliver has extensive experience advising financiers, owners, operators, and other market participants on aviation finance and asset finance transactions, with a particular focus on the corporate jet market.
He joins HFW from Watson Farley & Williams, where he led the corporate jet practice. He previously held senior roles at Clyde & Co in London and the Middle East, including as Head of Aviation in Dubai.
This follows the recent arrival of London aviation litigation Partner Guy Marrison and the launch of the firm’s Swiss aviation offering with the hire of a team led by Partner Laurent Chassot in Geneva. Oliver’s arrival also follows the recent hire of London ship finance Partner Simon Petch, further underlining the firm’s momentum across its core transport and asset finance practices.
David Brotherton, Global Head of Aerospace, HFW said:
“Oliver is one of the most highly regarded lawyers in the corporate jet market. He brings outstanding technical expertise and a deep understanding of the aviation finance market. His arrival further strengthens our global aviation offering and perfectly complements the breadth of expertise we already have across financing, disputes, insurance, and regulatory work.”
Oliver advises banks, alternative financiers, high‑net‑worth individuals, and operators on high‑value and complex transactions, including aircraft and engine financing, leasing, sale and purchase transactions, portfolio management and cross‑border structuring.
He acts for clients across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and is recognised as a market leader in legal directories Chambers and Legal 500.
Oliver Tebbit, Partner, HFW commented on his appointment –
“HFW’s aviation practice has an exceptional global reputation, built on deep sector knowledge, strong client relationships, and a genuinely collaborative culture. The opportunity to work as part of a market‑leading international team, and to develop an integrated jets and wider asset finance offering, in close collaboration with HFW’s market-leading yacht practice was a compelling one. No other law firm is able to offer the same breadth and depth of expertise across the yacht and jet sectors, and I am excited to build an ever more connected luxury asset platform for our clients.”
HFW’s global aerospace team now comprises 24 Partners and 100 lawyers in total across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and the Americas. The team advise clients throughout the industry – including more than 100 airlines around the world – on all aspects of aviation liability, dispute resolution, regulatory, finance and leasing, and corporate aviation.
Oliver becomes HFW’s 11th new Partner in 2026, continuing a period of sustained growth across the firm’s global network. HFW has added 40 new Partners since the beginning of FY25, and now has 190 Partners and 700 lawyers in total across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and the Americas.
