Skadden Adds Sophie Lamb & Samuel Pape As Partners In London

Skadden has announced recently that Sophie Lamb and Samuel Pape will be joining the firm’s London office as Partners.

A distinguished practitioner, Sophie Lamb will join the firm’s International Litigation and Arbitration Group in London, further reinforcing Skadden’s exceptional capabilities across high-stakes cross-border arbitrations, investment treaty disputes and complex commercial litigation.

With more than 25 years of experience litigating before international tribunals and courts, Ms. Lamb joins the firm as a Partner. She is renowned for her powerful advocacy in “bet-the-company” arbitrations and complex litigation and has advised boards of public companies, sovereign states, private equity houses and major corporates across sectors, including energy, infrastructure, technology and financial services. Her practice spans corporate and commercial arrangements, international investment law, public law and climate litigation, and she has been at the forefront of some of the most topical class actions and parent company responsibility cases in recent years.

Ms. Lamb has appeared as advocate twice in the U.K. Supreme Court and has conducted cases under principal arbitration rules, including UNCITRAL, LCIA, ICC, ICSID, HKIAC, SIAC, AAA-ICDR and Swiss Rules. She also sits on the London Court of International Arbitration and is a bencher of Gray’s Inn. Ms. Lamb previously served as global co-chair of her prior firm’s International Arbitration Practice and represented the U.K. on the ICC International Court of Arbitration until 2022.

Skadden’s London practice distinguishes itself as one of the few featuring three King’s Counsel (KC) actively engaged in arbitration advocacy. In addition to Ms. Lamb KC, Skadden is home to Kate Jackson-McGill KC, who leads the firm’s Europe International Litigation and Arbitration Group, and Daniel Gal KC.

Samuel Pape will join the firm’s International Litigation and Arbitration Group in London as a Partner, further enhancing Skadden’s capabilities in high-stakes cross-border arbitrations, investment treaty disputes and complex commercial litigation.

Mr. Pape brings over 15 years of experience as a leading arbitration and international litigation attorney. He has a well-established track record as a strategic adviser and advocate across commercial and investor-state arbitrations, as well as high-stakes multi-jurisdictional litigation, frequently handling disputes involving Francophone jurisdictions and Latin America.

His client base spans multinational corporations, private equity funds, financial institutions and state parties in disputes across a range of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, mining, banking and technology. His experience includes acting in M&A, shareholder, commercial and financial disputes, and he has been at the forefront of some of the most high-profile environmental class actions and parent company responsibility cases in recent years.
