Nishith Mehta will be joining Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as the Head – Financial Regulatory & Compliance. He will be based at the Mumbai office.
Nishith has over 25 years of experience in the space of Banking and Capital Markets and has been a regulatory and compliance professional in various financial institutions.
He will be joining the Firm from Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofA), where he co-headed Asia Pacific Compliance and Operational Risk. He also served as Country Head of Compliance and Operational Risk and Chief Compliance Officer for regulated businesses in India. He managed diverse products and asset classes within Global Banking and Markets and dealt with complex regulatory environments across major banking and securities regulators in Asia, besides executing a comprehensive compliance and operational Risk framework across his coverage.
Prior to joining BofA, Nishith has worked with Lehman Brothers, Kotak Mahindra group (JV with Goldman Sachs), and Edelweiss group.
In a press release by CAM, it was stated that with Nishith’s addition, the firm will focus deeply on addressing the regulatory and risk and compliance requirements of its financial sector clients. This move enables the firm to view the practice as a ‘sector’. The practice provides services including securities regulation, banking advisory for investigations, compliance and risk management, policy advisory, fraud management, inspections, and more. This team will integrate into the firm’s broader Financial Institution Group (FIG) which is a sector-focused practice.
