Freshfields LLP along with White & Case have advised on SSE plc’s landmark £2 billion equity placing, the largest equity placing by a London Stock Exchange–listed company in the past five years.

FTSE 100-listed SSE is a leading generator of renewables and flexible energy in the Great Britain and Ireland markets and one of the world’s fastest-growing electricity networks companies.

The proceeds of the equity raise will be used as part of the overall funding of SSE’s transformational £33bn five-year investment plan to 2029/30, positioning it as one of the fastest growing electricity networks in the world and more than trebling the size of the regulated asset base.
