A&O Shearman Adds Nick Ramphal As A Partner In New York

A&O Shearman announced that Nick Ramphal has rejoined the firm as a Partner in the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) practice in New York. Nick, who joins from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, previously worked at Shearman & Sterling.

A leading practitioner, Nick brings nearly 20 years of experience advising U.S. and international clients on complex public and private M&A transactions, including private equity deals, mergers, tender offers, carve-outs, spin-offs, joint ventures, and strategic investments. His expertise supports one of A&O Shearman’s top strategic priorities: deepening its U.S. strategic M&A and private capital offering. Nick’s appointment follows last month’s hire of M&A and Private Equity Partner Valentine Bleicher from Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.

The addition of Nick is an important next step in our strategic expansion of our M&A and private equity capabilities in the U.S. Our practice is gaining significant momentum, with multiple partner hires this month and a series of multi-billion dollar announced transactions. Nick’s proven track record and versatility across M&A and private equity make him an outstanding fit for our goals” said Adam Hakki, Partner, Co-Chair Executive Committee/Board and U.S. Chair.

Bill Schwitter, Partner and Global Head of sector strategy, said: “We are delighted to welcome Nick back to A&O Shearman. His technical excellence, commercial instincts, and strong market reputation will be invaluable to the firm, and I look forward to the impact he will continue to make across our global practice.”

I am thrilled to be returning to A&O Shearman and its elite global M&A practice,” said Nick Ramphal. “The firm presents an exceptional opportunity to advise clients on their most complex and challenging transactions, and I’m looking forward to being part of this world class team.”
