Clifford Chance and Stephenson Harwood advised on Cinven and La Caisse’s acquisition of Optio Group.

International private equity firm Cinven and Global Investment Group La Caisse (formerly CDPQ) have reached an agreement to acquire Optio Group, a leading specialty insurance Managing General Agent (MGA) platform. Headquartered in London, Optio originates, underwrites and manages specialty risk on behalf of more than 60 third-party capacity providers, underwriting a diversified portfolio across six business lines and more than 30 products.

The company operates 18 offices across 15 countries spanning the UK, Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia. Following completion of the transaction, Optio’s management team will remain significantly invested and continue to lead the business.

Clifford Chance advised Cinven and La Caisse on the acquisition.

The team was led by Shimin Lee and Ashley Prebble, with Artem Paoutov and Madeleine McIntosh.

Stephenson Harwood advised Optio Group’s management team on the transaction.

The team was led by Partners Sam Gray and Chris Manning, supported by Managing Associates Gerald Seeto and Kunal Shah, and Associates Samuel Tyler, Eleanor Wardley and Gary McArthur.
