Phoenix Legal along with Khaitan & Co advised on Plus500’s USD 20 million acquisition of Mehta Equities Private Limited (MEPL).
The acquisition enables Plus500 to expand its geographic footprint into India’s large and well-established financial industry, including futures trading. India represents the largest retail trading market globally with over 150bn contracts traded in 2024, equating to over 75% of the global transaction volume.
Phoenix Legal advised Mehta Equities Private Limited (MEPL) and its founders on the sale of their 100% stake to global fintech giant Plus500 Ltd. for approximately USD 20 million. Phoenix Legal team advised on the transaction structure, deal negotiation, finalization of definitive documents, and regulatory aspects of the acquisition.
The team was led by Partner Rahul Deodhar, with support from Associate Shivani Vyas.
Khaitan & Co advised Plus500 Ltd on the acquisition of 100% shares of Mehta Equities Limited, including navigating regulatory requirements and transaction structuring.
The team was led by Partners Rabindra Jhunjhunwala and Purti Minawala, with Principal Associate Niyanta Munyal, Associates Bishesh Joshi, and Nitya Saxena.
