Sidley Austin LLP and Latham & Watkins advise on Global Infrastructure Partners’ PHP 13.7 billion strategic investment in Aboitiz InfraCapital.
Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) has entered into a strategic partnership with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), part of BlackRock, pursuant to which GIP will acquire a 40% stake in Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC) for a total investment of PHP 13.7 billion (approximately US$233 million).
The investment will be made through a combination of a secondary share purchase from AEV and a primary share subscription in AIC. Upon completion, GIP is expected to hold a 40% interest in AIC, while AEV will retain a 60% controlling stake. The transaction underscores strong investor confidence in the Philippine infrastructure sector and remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
