Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer announced that Laurent Massinon has joined the firm as a Partner in its Finance practice, based in Luxembourg.
Laurent brings more than 20 years’ experience advising on complex cross-border banking and capital markets transactions including private capital and investment structure financings, acquisition finance, leveraged finance, structured finance and securitisation, debt and equity securities, as well as restructuring and insolvency. He also regularly advises on regulatory matters within the banking, finance, capital markets and (re)insurance sectors.
Laurent joins the firm from DLA Piper in Luxembourg where he had been a partner since 2017. His arrival comes a year after Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer opened its office in Luxembourg along with the hire of three partners in the funds, M&A and tax teams within its Corporate practice. Expanding the team in Luxembourg reinforces the firm’s commitment to strengthening its capability and quality in the world’s key markets, and enhancing its ability to support clients on domestic and cross-border matters.
Kristen Roberts, Managing Partner for Finance (UK and EMEA), Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, commented: “We are delighted that Laurent has joined us. The breadth and depth of his experience will complement and add to our Luxembourg team’s capabilities and to our wider Finance practice in EMEA.”
Nina Bowyer, Managing Partner for EMEA, Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, commented: “We continue to invest in areas where our clients need us, building strong practices that excel in the relevant markets. I am delighted to welcome Laurent as a partner, further strengthening our private capital and restructuring practices.”
Laurent Massinon said: “Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer has a strong reputation with a solid global footprint that offers many opportunities for me to develop my practice. I look forward to working with my colleagues and contributing to the growth of the firm’s newly established Luxembourg office and to the wider EMEA region.”
Laurent’s arrival marks further growth for the firm in London and across its EMEA platform. Last month, the firm welcomed leveraged finance partner Stuart Brinkworth in London and disputes partner Hannah Eckhoff in Frankfurt. In November 2025, Emanuela Da Rin, along with a team of four lawyers, joined as a partner to lead the firm’s Banking and Finance practice in Milan while partners Laurence Bary (Competition, Regulation and Trade) and Mohammed Al Eshaikh (Corporate) joined the firm’s Paris and Riyadh offices respectively in September 2025.
