Linklaters announced the appointment of Owen Ross, who will join the firm as a Partner in its insurance practice in London.
Owen joins Linklaters from CMS, where he was a partner in the financial services team focused on the insurance sector. He is recognised for his extensive M&A and reinsurance expertise, with particular experience of the increasing interface between UK insurers, asset managers and private markets, the ongoing changes in the defined benefit and defined contribution pensions space, and the expanding involvement of private capital clients in the UK insurance sector. He has also worked on property and casualty insurance deals, including Lloyd’s participations for private capital investors.
Owen brings a combination of strong technical regulatory and transactional insurance expertise and is considered a Next Generation Partner in Insurance: Corporate and Regulatory in The Legal 500. Owen starts in September.
Simon Branigan, Global Head of Corporate at Linklaters, commented:
“Owen’s arrival will strengthen our global insurance team at a time of significant and sustained activity in the sector. The insurance industry is generating a growing pipeline of high-end, cross-border and complex work, particularly in UK life, the asset management-insurer nexus, pensions derisking and reinsurance. His specialist expertise in these high-value, highly regulated transactions will be critical to deepening our client relationships, winning new business, and delivering market-leading execution across our global platform.”
