Sidley Austin Grows Capital Markets Practice With Partner Scott Bennett In New York

Sidley Austin LLP announced that Scott Bennett has joined the firm’s Capital Markets practice as a Partner in Sidley’s office in New York as Head of Technology Capital Markets. Mr. Bennett joins from Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP where he was co-head of both the Venture Capital & Growth Equity practice and the Digital Assets practice.

Mr. Bennett represents issuers, investors, and investment banks in public and private securities offerings and has extensive experience advising emerging and high-growth companies and venture investors. He is widely recognized for his work with companies and investors in the technology, fintech, digital assets, and artificial intelligence sectors, as well as in traditional industries including energy, consumer products, life sciences, transportation, and shipping. His practice also includes mergers and acquisitions transactions, corporate governance matters, and general strategic advisory work for public and private companies. He has advised on numerous IPOs, direct listings and other public market transactions, and significant venture financings and private placements.

Scott is exactly the kind of capital markets partner we want to bring into the firm. His practice sits squarely at the intersection of venture, growth equity, and traditional capital markets, and he also serves several of our existing clients whose representation will be consolidated across our global network,” said Yvette Ostolaza, the firm’s Management Committee Chair and an Executive Committee member. “Just as importantly, his expertise in digital assets and emerging technologies further enhances our reputation among clients at the forefront of innovation, areas where we are deeply committed to expanding globally.”

What stands out about Scott is not just the quality of his capital markets experience, but the breadth of his relationships and the platform-building potential he brings. He has developed a strong following among venture-backed companies, investors, and underwriters,” said Sam Gandhi, global practice leader of the firm’s Capital Markets group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. “Scott is well positioned to help us capture the next wave of IPOs and growth-company relationships while driving meaningful cross-practice collaboration across the firm.

Mr. Bennett’s arrival follows the addition of several partners to Sidley’s New York office in 2026, including Greg Featherman in Tax; Jess Cheng in Banking, Payments and Fintech; Jeffrey Ross, Ji Hye You and Leah Edelboim in Global Finance; Juan Arteaga in Antitrust and Competition; and Cliff Cone, Michael Sabin, and Daniel Drabkin in Investment Funds.
