JSA Advocates and Solicitors (JSA), one of India’s leading full service law firms, today announced the addition of Shashank Shekhar as a Retained Partner in its Bengaluru office.

Shashank’s introduction further highlights the firm’s reputation as a preferred destination for practitioners seeking a transparent and professionally driven environment that supports long-term growth.
With over two decades of experience in indirect tax litigation and advisory, Shashank is a seasoned counsel with extensive experience appearing before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, and Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT).
He has also advised and briefed Senior Advocates on several complex and high stakes matters.
Prior to joining JSA, Shashank served as a Partner at DMD Advocates, in their Indirect Tax litigation and advisory practice. His earlier career includes roles as a tax litigator at Trilegal, Advaita Legal, Vaish Associates, and Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, in addition to his formative years spent in the chambers of Rakesh K. Khanna, Senior Advocate.

Over the course of his career, Shashank has advised clients across Oil & Gas, Manufacturing (including Auto and Auto-Ancillary), IT-ITeS, E-commerce, BFSI, Electronics & Consumer Durables, Telecom, Power, Healthcare, Alcobev, and Online Gaming.
Among his marque matters, Shashank was one of the arguing counsels in the landmark judgment before the Gujarat High Court (2020) and the Supreme Court (2022) in which the levy of IGST on ocean freight was declared unconstitutional. He has additionally advised several online gaming companies on GST implications and assisted clients in investigations by DRI and DGGI.
At JSA, Shashank will be working with Manish Mishra, Partner, who will also serve as his mentor.
