JSA, AZB Advised On Schneider Electric’s Acquisition Of 35% Stake In SEIPL

JSA along with AZB & Partners advised Schneider Electric on proposed acquisition of minority stake held by Temasek (Singapore) in Schneider Electric India Private Limited for $6.4 billion.

JSA Advocates & Solicitors (JSA) is acting as the sole advisor on competition aspects in relation to Schneider Electric’s proposed acquisition of the remaining 35% stake of SEIPL from Temasek.

The proposed acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of required regulatory approvals from the Competition Commission of India.

Schneider Electric is committed to support India’s future expansion through its unique setup in India, which is Schneider Electric’s third largest market and one of its four hubs.

The team from JSA comprised Nisha Kaur Uberoi, Partner & Chair – Competition Law Practice, with Partner – Pranav Satyam, Principal Associate – Sarthak Pande; Senior Associates – Shivangi Chawla, Samriddha Gooptu and Ishan Arora; and Associates – Akanksha Mathur, Mehar Singh Dang, Aditya Prakash, Naman Katyal, Meghaa G, Cherian Chacko Manayath, Ashmeka K and Mayank Gandhi.

AZB & Partners advised Schneider Electric on the corporate law aspects of the proposed acquisition. Schneider Electric will also acquire Temasek’s stake in their Singapore JV.

AZB had advised on the original transaction in August 2020, where Schneider and Temasek jointly acquired the electrical and automation business of L&T and combined it with Schneider’s local operations.
